We look forward to welcoming you to The Buena Vista Café in San Francisco. To ensure all our guests receive exceptional hospitality and authentic waterfront dining service, please review our general guidelines below.

1. Standard Dining & Seating

  • First-Come, First-Served: Seating at our bar counter and dining tables operates primarily on a traditional first-come, first-served basis.
  • Seating Windows: To accommodate all guests eager to experience our historic saloon and famous Irish Coffee, we ask that guests be mindful of dining duration during peak hours.

    • 2. Group Dining Requests

  • For large tour groups or special historical visits, please contact our management team in advance at (415) 474-5959.
  • Automatic Gratuity: In accordance with California consumer disclosure regulations, an automatic service charge (gratuity) of 20% may be added to the final bill for large parties of 6 or more.

    • 3. Outdoor & Bar Seating

  • Seating at the iconic wooden bar and window tables overlooking Hyde Street and Aquatic Park is highly sought after and filled as guests arrive.
  • While we make every effort to accommodate seating preferences, specific table locations cannot be reserved in advance.

    • 4. Health & Safety Adherence

    The Buena Vista Café operates in strict compliance with the San Francisco Department of Public Health regulations. If you or any member of your party have severe food allergies, please inform your server before ordering so our kitchen staff can take necessary precautions.
